A wrathful manifestation of the female buddha Vajrayogini, Troma Nagmo (Skt. Vajra Khroda Kali, “wrathful black lady”) is a powerful wisdom dakini who is one of the most important deities in the Nyingma tradition. She personifies the essence of absolute primordial nature, which is emptiness, in the Buddhist sense that all beings and phenomena are devoid of inherent, independent existence. Troma is most notably associated with the practice of cho, the meditation practice of cutting through ego-attachment in order to liberate the very root of all suffering.
