The Zhitro mandala is the celestial abode of the peaceful and wrathful deities of the One Hundred Buddha Families.  Its significance is especially important in its power to prepare and guide sentient beings in the bardo (intermediate state) at the time of death.  This two-dimensional mandala is based upon the Zhitro text compiled in the 18th century by Mindroling Lochen Dharma Shri, which contains essential teachings of Guru Padmasambhava on the subject.
