Rahula is a powerful oath-bound protector that is supplicated widely in the Nyingma tradition. This particular depiction of Rahula and retinue from the Longchen Nyingtik tradition is based upon a composition dictated by His Holinesss Dodrupchen Rinpoche directly to Pema Namdol.
Rahula manifests with multiple heads and endless eyes on his body to protect and serve the dharma. In his four hands Rahula yields implements, which assist him in his mission of subduing demonic forces and negativity. Rahula's wrathful appearance symbolizes his power as one of the most powerful protectors in the Tibetan Buddhist pantheon.
